Mark 3:13-35: What Did You Expect?

In Mark chapter 3, Jesus encounters people whose expectations of who he should be are completely shattered. His family thinks he's lost his mind, religious leaders call him evil, and even those closest to him remain on the outside. Following Jesus begins with saying yes without setting our own terms or conditions. The challenge comes when Jesus doesn't meet our expectations, leading us to resist rather than surrender. True discipleship isn't about proximity to Jesus but intimacy with him, demonstrated through obedience to God's will regardless of the cost.
